Four years before becoming a Limited company, Jacob Fairbrother, the founder of JWF Utilities Ltd, worked as a sole trader for a utilities company on a Kier contract. With a clear vision and the ambition to take control of his future, Jacob decided to “go it alone” and establish JWF Utilities Limited which is a company built on hard work, reliability, and community values.
The Challenge
When Jacob first set out on his own, his immediate goal was to purchase a mini digger to help launch his business. However, as a relatively new sole trader with limited trading history, securing finance proved difficult. After multiple declines from other finance providers, Jacob began to feel disheartened.
That’s when a conversation with a representative from a plant machinery sales company led him to Ignition Finance, part of the STAR Asset Finance Group.
The Solution
Jacob contacted Ignition and was introduced to Dan Liddeatt, who took the time to understand his business, his goals, and the challenges he faced. Once all the required information was gathered, Ignition acted quickly, securing an on-board acceptance within 24 hours.
That first mini digger purchase, funded by Ignition, became the foundation of JWF Utilities’ success. Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength.
The Results
Thanks to our support, Jacob was able to expand his company, creating two new local jobs and investing further in equipment, including a new van and additional machinery.
“I’d like to give a huge thank you to Dan Liddeatt and the team for helping me secure finance for my new van and digger. From start to finish, the process was smooth, straightforward, and stress-free.
Dan went above and beyond to find the right deal that fit my budget and made sure everything was clearly explained along the way. Communication was excellent, quick responses, friendly service, and a real ‘can-do’ attitude that made all the difference.
Because I had only been trading for a year, finding finance was difficult. However, thanks to Dan, I was able to expand my company and provide two more jobs in my local area.”
— Jacob, Director of JWF Utilities Ltd
Ignition’s Perspective
“It has been a privilege working with Jacob, and we are incredibly proud to have played a part in the continued success and growth of JWF Utilities.”
— Dan Liddeatt, Ignition Finance
