A well-established manufacturing business with a £15 million turnover approached us looking for a more flexible funding structure and greater support from its banking partners. Through a holistic review of the business, we identified a £1 million confidential invoice discounting facility and introduced the business to alternative banking institutions, helping reduce its reliance on an overdraft and creating a stronger platform for future growth.

The Challenge

The manufacturing business had built a successful operation with an annual turnover of approximately £15 million, but its existing banking arrangements were becoming restrictive.

A lack of support from its current bank was limiting financial flexibility, while the business was increasingly reliant on a working overdraft to manage its day-to-day cash flow.

The customer wanted to move away from this reliance and find a more sustainable funding structure that would provide greater flexibility as the business continued to grow.

The Solution

We took a holistic approach, looking beyond the immediate funding requirement to understand the company’s sales ledger, cash-flow cycle and wider working-capital needs.

Working closely with one of our trusted third-party connections, we were able to structure and secure a £1 million confidential invoice discounting facility, providing the business with flexible working capital linked directly to its sales ledger.

We also recognised that the customer would benefit from stronger banking support.

As part of the wider review, we introduced the business to alternative banking institutions that were better positioned to understand its requirements and support its future ambitions.

The Result

The new funding arrangement provided the business with a more flexible and diversified funding structure, helping reduce its reliance on its existing overdraft.

The introduction to alternative banking institutions also opened the door to new financial relationships and greater long-term support.

By looking at the whole business rather than simply the initial funding requirement, we were able to identify additional opportunities and put the customer on a stronger financial footing for the future.
